How to Join Band and Orchestra

5th graders in the Manitowoc Public School District have the wonderful opportunity to join band and orchestra. Students who are in older grades who would like to begin in band and orchestra are also invited to do so.

Students Find Out About Instruments and Try Them Out:
Instrumental music teachers at Madison, Jackson and Stangel presented a short lesson on the instruments of the band and orchestra to all fifth grade students and interested 6th grade students. After the presentation, students were able to try out the instruments to see which ones would be compatible, which ones they liked, and which ones were recommended for them by professional instructors.

Parents and Guardians Find Out About Band and Orchestra:
Informational Parent Meetings at Madison, Jackson, and Stangel were held the week of Monday, September 12th.

If you were unable to attend the meeting information from the meeting and fittings was sent home in Friday Folders on 9/16/16. If you did not receive this information for some reason, you may find it on this website in the Parent Meeting and Agenda section. Another copy of the information can also be sent home if needed.

Band and orchestra lessons will begin the week of October 10th and are free of charge; however, your child will need to obtain an instrument and method book. Information for acquiring an instrument was sent home and can also be found on this website. I can also help you find an instrument no matter what your budget calls for. Please just email or call and I can help.

We look forward to your child’s participation in instrumental music this year!
