Sarkis Wentland, Reading

My name is Sarkis Wentland and I am a Reading Teacher at Madison Elementary.  Read on to learn a little bit about me!

Although I was born in Madison, Wisconsin, I spent a lot of my younger years moving around with my family.  Eventually we settled in Kewaunee, Wisconsin where I attended high school. After graduation, I enrolled at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay where I earned a bachelor’s in History and Education.  From there I went on to earn a special education certification from Silver Lake College. I taught special education at L. B. Clarke Middle School in Two Rivers for three years before becoming an ELA and Social Studies teacher.  While in this position I earned my reading license from Concordia University in 2019. This license lead me to join the team at Madison in 2019 as well!

My wife, Libbie, and I live in Manitowoc with our two dogs, Ramses and Addie.  We enjoy being outdoors and spend a lot time walking around the city. We also enjoy reading and can often be seen walking to the library.  I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy. My favorite book is The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien. “To recognize that the greatest error is not to have tried and failed, but that in trying, we did not give it our best effort” - Gene Kranz, Flight Director of Gemini and Apollo Programs.
