Congratulations to Madison Elementary Kindergarten Teacher Amber Westergaard for winning a 2024 Eastern Wisconsin Excellence in Education Award!
She will be honored May 18 at the Kiel Area School District Performing Arts Center. The program will be live streamed on the

Miss Westergaard actually received two nominations! Her nominators stressed her “soft, charming personality” and genuine care for her students, colleagues and families, with an open door for communication.
Her students are ahead of schedule in learning. One of her goals is to get her students to think about their actions towards others and how all of her students are unique regardless of race, income level or creed.
Her nominators said Miss Westergaard also:
Builds relationships with all students by having a true honest connection and understanding.
Creates a safe place to make sure all students feel accepted, welcomed and expressed.
Allows any student a quiet, safe environment to practice regulating emotions and self-coping mechanisms.
Stays young with the hip youngsters like a cool G and
Finds multiple ways to help each student with any difficulty and provide resources to achieve their goals and become their best selves.
More teachers should be like Amber!
